NJ Comic Store Patron Faces Charges After Gun Incident

In a startling incident at a New Jersey comic book store, a customer pulled a gun in response to an unruly shopper who reportedly threatened violence after being asked to leave. 34-year-old Justin A. Fernandez of Sicklerville allegedly drew the weapon to intimidate the disruptive customer while two children were present, one of whom can be seen on surveillance footage attempting to lower Fernandez’s arm to prevent the escalation.

Authorities arrested Fernandez after he voluntarily approached police on Monday, revealing he lacked a concealed carry permit for the semi-automatic handgun tucked in his waistband. He faces serious charges including unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, yet was released on summons pending a court appearance. This alarming event raises questions about safety in public spaces and the responsibilities of armed individuals in tense situations.
