A Winton Terrace nonprofit is launching an initiative called “Prayers, Peace, and Pancakes” aimed at combating youth gun violence in the wake of devastating incidents, including the recent shooting death of a 12-year-old boy in Winton Hills. This event, organized by community advocate Mitch Morris and his nonprofit Save Our Youth Kings and Queens, provides a safe haven for kids and parents with a barbecue, overnight sleepover, and breakfast reflection designed to educate participants on the dangers of gun violence.
Mitch Morris emphasizes the urgent need for a supportive environment, stating, “I need the kids to feel safe and loved and cared about,” as they gather for fun and reflection. The event begins at 6 p.m. on July 18 at 4848 Winneste Ave, and aims to foster community involvement in addressing the alarming trend of youth involved in shootings. City officials and local organizations are collaborating on various initiatives to curb violent crime, making this a pivotal moment for community action.
