This summer, the first Battalion of the North Dakota Waterfowl Brigade engages youth in vital conservation education, combining leadership skills with outdoor science. Over four and a half days, participants aged 13 to 17 immerse themselves in waterfowl ecology, hunting safety, and habitat management, all while being guided by experts from the North Dakota Game and Fish Department.
Program manager Elizabeth Palarski highlights the camp’s transformative impact, noting that by its conclusion, students exhibit increased confidence and a deeper passion for conservation. The initiative aims to equip the next generation, regardless of their future careers, with the knowledge and tools to advocate for environmental stewardship in their communities.
