A North Memphis man battling cancer experiences new stress as gunfire from a shootout damages his home and two others last week. The incident, which took place near Cochran and Meriwether on July 15, left seven bullet holes in one victim’s house, some of which shattered windows in the middle of the night.
This same neighborhood has a history of gun violence, leading one neighbor—who was inside with her children during the shooting—to express her fear and frustration about ongoing threats to safety. Both victims currently contend with the emotional and financial toll of dealing with the aftermath, including repairing their homes and living on high alert for future incidents.
