North Tonawanda police have arrested a suspect in connection with an armed robbery that took place early Saturday morning near Oliver Street and Center Avenue. The suspect, identified as Stephen Yaksich, was apprehended about two hours after the robbery was reported at approximately 3:55 a.m., as officers from the midnight patrol located him without incident.
Yaksich faces serious charges, including robbery in the first degree, which is classified as a Class B felony. In addition to the robbery charge, he faces two counts of criminal possession of a weapon and two counts of menacing, showcasing the severity of the incident. Following his arraignment in North Tonawanda City Court, Yaksich was remanded to the Niagara County Jail, raising concerns about public safety in the area.
