NSCDC Members Sentenced to Death for Armed Robbery

An Ikeja High Court recently sentenced two members of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to death by hanging for their involvement in a violent armed robbery. Justice Onyindamola Ogala found Azonta Amarachukwu and Ajayi Adebayo guilty of hijacking trucks loaded with drinks, valued at around N2.7 million, during a midnight operation in January 2018.

The court’s ruling emphasizes the severity of the crime, noting that one defendant was apprehended at the scene while the other was identified by eyewitnesses during the trial. This decision serves as a stark reminder of the accountability needed for law enforcement officials who abuse their power.
