NYPD Investigates Antisemitic Assault on Staten Island

The NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force is currently investigating a disturbing antisemitic assault that occurred on Staten Island, where a 55-year-old man was attacked and threatened with a firearm. The incident took place on April 25 in Tompkinsville, and the victim reported that three males approached him, yelled an antisemitic slur, and physically assaulted him, resulting in visible injuries.

This attack marks an alarming trend of antisemitism in the area, following previous incidents that have sparked police attention. Notably, reports indicate that hate crimes on Staten Island have seen a significant decrease, with only four incidents reported this year compared to eight during the same period last year. This raises questions about community safety and the ongoing efforts to combat hate-fueled violence.
