An Oakland man has been charged with multiple offenses, including making criminal threats and negligent discharge of a firearm, after firing 19 shots to scare away a door-to-door salesman. The 41-year-old resident, who has a history of felony convictions that bar him from firearm possession, pleaded not guilty and remains out of custody following his arrest on October 3.

After allegedly threatening the victim, the man discharged his weapon in two separate bursts. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. The suspect faces a preliminary hearing in late November, and details surrounding the events continue to emerge as the case develops.
