Authorities confirm that the fatal shootings of a woman and a man in an Oakland apartment on Tuesday morning are a murder-suicide case. Erykah Harris, 27, was shot by her acquaintance, Jordan Banks-Green, also 27, who then turned the gun on himself. Police discovered their bodies around 6:55 a.m. in Banks-Green’s residence on Seminary Avenue, where the firearm used in the incident was recovered.
As investigators piece together the events leading up to the tragedy, they are working to establish the nature of Harris and Banks-Green’s relationship and the motive behind the tragic event. Notably, this incident marks the 40th homicide investigated by Oakland police this year, a decrease compared to the 53 homicides recorded at the same time last year.
