A woman was shot and killed by Ocoee police after she attempted to flee in a stolen vehicle during an encounter in a shopping plaza parking lot. According to Ocoee police Chief Vincent Ogburn, surveillance footage reveals that officers were pursuing a silver BMW SUV connected to a theft when the driver, identified as Stacie Guerrero, accelerated toward them as they approached her vehicle.
The incident unfolded shortly after Guerrero left a Publix store, where she was allegedly caught stealing merchandise. Her passenger was arrested for felony retail theft at the scene. As the investigation is conducted by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Chief Ogburn emphasizes the seriousness of the situation, stating, “We understand that the loss of life is tragic.” No other injuries were reported during the incident, prompting police to ask for community patience while inquiries continue.
