ODU Shooting Becomes Deadliest College Incident in Months

A double shooting at Old Dominion University (ODU) in Norfolk, Virginia, claims the lives of two young men, marking the deadliest incident on a college campus in the last six months, according to data from Everytown for Gun Safety. The university police responded to reports of gunfire late Wednesday evening, finding 18-year-old Delanio M. Vick and 20-year-old Timothy G. Williams Jr. with critical injuries, both later pronounced dead at the hospital.

This tragic event is part of a troubling trend, as it represents the seventh shooting on college campuses nationwide this year, with three resulting in fatalities. The data indicates a worrying increase in violence on educational grounds, heightening the urgency for discussions on campus safety protocols as communities grapple with the implications of these violent incidents.
