This fall, Ohio’s Division of Wildlife plans to release more than 14,000 ring-necked pheasants across 41 public hunting areas, starting with youth hunting weekend on October 25. The official hunting season will open on November 7, offering seasoned hunters and newcomers alike the chance to engage in this popular outdoor activity.
The released pheasants will be male roosters only, with a daily harvest limit set at two birds per hunter. Notably, the state has earmarked twelve locations in northeast Ohio for these releases, ensuring ample opportunities for local hunters. With the season ending on January 11, 2026, prospective hunters are encouraged to secure a valid Ohio hunting license to participate.
