Ohio’s Deer Harvest Sees Strong Numbers This Season

Ohio’s white-tailed deer hunting remains a favored activity, with the 2025 season yielding a remarkable 238,137 tagged deer, making it the fourth highest harvest on record. The extensive four-month archery season alone accounted for 106,269 of these deer, highlighting the increasing popularity of crossbow hunting over traditional methods.

Among the top counties for deer harvest, Coshocton leads with 8,196 deer taken, followed closely by Tuscarawas and Knox counties. Additionally, out-of-state hunters contributed significantly to this year’s figures, with Pennsylvania hunters alone purchasing nearly 8,000 non-resident licenses. This trend showcases not only the strength of Ohio’s deer population but also its reputation as a prime destination for hunting enthusiasts.
