One dead, two injured in Central City shooting

A shooting during a second-line parade in Central City, New Orleans, results in the death of a 26-year-old woman, while a 16-year-old boy and a 29-year-old man sustain injuries. Police responded to the scene on Magnolia Street, where the woman was discovered and pronounced dead shortly after. In a troubling twist, the teen and man were found a few blocks away, both taken to local hospitals with injuries reported as non-life threatening, highlighting the brazen nature of the violence during a community celebration.

As the investigation unfolds, police have not yet made any arrests, prompting officials to urge witnesses or anyone with video of the incident to come forward. NOPD spokesperson Reese Harper emphasized the need for community support, stating, “No one should ever fear violence in these moments.” This incident, which strikes at the heart of local culture, raises concerns about safety in public celebrations, making the community’s collective response pivotal in seeking justice and ensuring future peace.
