Orlando Man Faces 28-Year Sentence for Armed Robberies

Nijah Jahni Mitchell, a 23-year-old from Orlando, has been convicted by a federal jury of multiple armed robberies that terrorized Central Florida convenience stores in early 2023. With the jury’s decision, Mitchell now faces a minimum of 28 years in prison, with the potential for a life sentence, following a record of nine violent heists carried out alongside an accomplice.

Law enforcement’s swift action contributed to Mitchell’s conviction after a witness provided crucial information that led to his arrest during a high-speed chase. Evidence presented at the trial, including a loaded firearm found with him at the time of capture, solidified the prosecution’s case against him and highlighted the severity of the crimes that instilled fear across the community.
