The Plumas County Sheriff’s Office has arrested 20-year-old Payton Wiles from Oroville, who is suspected of committing an armed robbery at a Motel 6 in Chico. The incident occurred late Monday night when Wiles allegedly demanded cash from a front desk clerk, claiming he had a firearm, and then fled the scene with stolen money.
Following the robbery, the Chico Police Department shared surveillance images of the suspect, leading to tips that identified Wiles. Detectives located him in Quincy on Wednesday, successfully apprehending him without incident. He is now facing robbery charges and is being held in Plumas County Jail on a warrant from Butte County.
