Parents Present Alternative Gun Policy to LCSD1 Board

In response to the recent passage of House Bill 172, which repeals gun-free zones including schools, local parents have preemptively submitted an alternative gun policy for Laramie County School District 1 (LCSD1). Led by Patricia McCoy, chairwoman of Moms for Liberty’s Laramie County chapter, the proposal addresses concerns that the Wyoming School Boards Association (WSBA) might not adequately reflect community needs in crafting new policies.

The parents’ petition calls for a review of their policy at an upcoming LCSD1 board meeting, emphasizing safety while allowing concealed-carry by staff who meet specific training requirements. As districts prepare to comply with the new law, this proactive approach is aimed at ensuring clear and enforceable guidelines that align with the intent of both local and statutory regulations.
