A gun shop in Pelham, Alabama, has partnered with the S.A.F.E.R. Together initiative, designed to provide military personnel, veterans, and first responders with a secure place to store firearms and ammunition during times of mental health crises. Scott Recchio, owner of My Gun Shop, emphasizes the importance of such support, stating he is committed to maintaining confidentiality and accessibility for individuals in need. The initiative’s goals are underscored by alarming statistics indicating that up to 85% of veteran suicides involve firearms. As the third gun shop in Alabama to join this coalition, My Gun Shop aims to make a difference and encourage individuals to seek assistance during their toughest times.
