The proposed bills limit the firearms to a three-round capacity, aligning state laws with those in many other regions, where semi-automatics are already widely accepted for hunting purposes.
Currently, Pennsylvania prohibits semi-automatic centerfire rifles for big game, a ban that Krupa argues lacks scientific support and restricts hunters’ access to effective tools. With growing deer populations causing agricultural disruption and vehicle collisions, the legislation aims to enhance ethical hunting practices and improve wildlife management. As the state’s hunting regulations evolve, this move could significantly change the experience for many hunters across the Commonwealth.
