Kali Pray, an Assistant State’s Attorney in Peoria, has been arrested on preliminary charges related to gun possession, including having a stolen firearm. She allegedly possessed a Smith & Wesson .38 Special while driving a vehicle that was stopped for speeding, during which law enforcement discovered raw cannabis and the firearm after detecting the odor of cannabis.
Pray, who is currently on unpaid administrative leave, is charged with possession of a stolen firearm, unlawful possession of a weapon, and lacking a valid FOID card. Pleading not guilty during her initial court appearance, Pray is set for a preliminary hearing on May 1, while restrictions have been placed on her release, preventing her from leaving the state or acquiring firearms.
