Blaine County Prosecuting Attorney Matthew Fredback confirms that Boise police officers will not face charges for the shooting of robbery suspect Adam Lee Cook, which occurred on September 24, 2024. Following a thorough review of body camera footage and an investigation led by the Meridian Police Department, Fredback concluded that the officers acted within the law as Cook posed an imminent threat while allegedly brandishing a weapon during a tense encounter.
The shooting unfolded after Cook, suspected in multiple armed robberies, initially complied with police orders but later fled, leading officers on a high-speed pursuit before hiding in a backyard. When confronted, Cook’s behavior caused officers to reasonably believe he was armed, resulting in their decision to use deadly force. Cook, who survived multiple gunshot wounds, was later charged with several felonies and is currently serving a life sentence.
