Authorities confirm that 15-year-old Isaiah Wilson was fatally shot near James A. Reed Park in south Kansas City on Tuesday, just two days shy of his 16th birthday. Wilson sustained a gunshot wound and later died at St. Luke’s East Hospital despite emergency medical efforts, according to Officer Alayna Gonzalez with the Kansas City Police Department.
Preliminary investigations reveal Wilson was walking near East 88th Place and James A. Reed Road when he heard multiple gunshots before being hit. Police have not determined if he was intentionally targeted in the shooting, which marks the 109th homicide in Kansas City this year.
