Police in Ogun State have fatally shot a member of a suspected armed robbery syndicate that had been active along the Sagamu/Ijebu-Ode highway. The operation unfolded after local authorities received reports of armed robbers obstructing traffic near Western University, leading to a swift mobilization of police patrol teams.

According to a police spokesperson, the engaged officers managed to recover a firearm from the scene while several suspects fled with bullet wounds into nearby bushes. The police have intensified patrols on the highway to improve safety for commuters and are currently working to apprehend the remaining members of the syndicate. The body of the deceased suspect has been taken to Ijebu-Ode General Hospital Morgue for further examination.
