Police in San Diego are investigating a false email that triggered fears of an active shooter and led to a brief lockdown of the Central Jail. The email, received by a local business, warned of purported gunfire at a FedEx storefront shortly before noon, causing multiple police units to rush to the scene in the busy commercial area near 600 C Street.

As investigations continue into the source of the misleading email, it remains unclear if the report was a mistake or an intentional threat. Officer David O’Brien confirmed that the incident is under investigation, urging the community to remain vigilant.
