As a result of these experiences, a significant majority of Americans take precautions to safeguard themselves, with nearly a third avoiding crowded places like festivals and bars. Furthermore, over 40% have sought out weapons for self-protection or have attempted to learn to handle firearms. This widespread concern extends across demographics, with one in three Black adults having lost a family member to gun violence, emphasizing the urgent need for awareness and action regarding this pressing issue.
