Portsmouth Teen Charged in Firearm Incident

A 15-year-old boy from Portsmouth is scheduled to appear in court facing charges related to an incident involving an imitation firearm that caused public distress. On November 14, police attempted a stop search on the teen, who fled before being apprehended just moments later near Stamford Street, where a gas-powered imitation gun was recovered.

The boy has been charged with possessing an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and is due to appear at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court on March 18. This incident taps into broader concerns about youth crime and public safety in the area, prompting discussions about adequate responses to similar threats.
