Louisville leaders are seeking the community’s assistance in identifying the shooter responsible for a fatal incident near a Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) bus stop in the Russell neighborhood. The shooting, which occurred on August 13, left a woman dead as she walked to pick up a child, prompting officials to call on residents for tips as they work to apprehend the suspect who poses a threat to community safety.

Louisville Metro Police Chief Paul Humphrey emphasized that gun violence affects the entire city, stating, “This one gunshot impacts neighborhoods, it impacts schools.” As officials continue their investigation, they stress that ensuring safety at bus stops and preventing future violence is a community-wide responsibility.
