Remembrance Conference Addresses Gun Violence in Healthcare

The Remembrance Conference 2025, focused on addressing the impacts and prevention of gun violence, will take place from June 6-8 at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences in Buffalo. This annual gathering, initiated by leaders from the University at Buffalo and Michigan State University after both institutions faced devastating mass shootings, aims to promote advocacy and education surrounding the gun violence epidemic.

Keynote speakers include experts from public health and violence prevention, such as Megan Ranney from Yale and Robert Gore of the Kings Against Violence Initiative. This year’s conference will cover critical topics ranging from mental health to advocacy training, underscoring the urgent need for healthcare professionals to engage in reducing gun violence, which claims a staggering number of lives through various forms, far exceeding just mass shootings.
