A retired city police officer, Edison Irizarry, is charged with murder after allegedly fatally shooting his roommate during an incident on Rombout Avenue in Beacon. Irizarry, 52, who served 17 years on the Beacon police force before retiring, is now held without bail on multiple felony charges, including criminal possession of a loaded weapon.
