RFK Jr. and Duffy Promote Healthier Airports Amid Pull-Up Contest

Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy unexpectedly engage in a pull-up competition at Ronald Reagan National Airport while promoting a $1 billion initiative aimed at enhancing family-friendly and health-conscious amenities in airports. The contest, which included notable performances—Kennedy completing 20 pull-ups and Duffy 10—served as a backdrop for their announcement of plans to improve nutritious food options and facilities for nursing mothers at airports across the U.S.

During the event, Duffy emphasized the need for more play areas for children and fitness areas for travelers, acknowledging that current airport food choices often fall short of health standards. Both secretaries highlighted the importance of upgrading amenities to support families and people with varying dietary needs, with Kennedy noting that airports often feature unhealthy food options that detract from travelers’ well-being. Their initiative, dubbed “Make Travel Family Friendly Again,” seeks to create a more accommodating environment for all passengers.
