Road Rage Incident on I-270 Leads to Arrest

A Rockville man faces serious charges after allegedly brandishing a firearm during a road rage incident on I-270. Joshua Johnson, 43, has been charged with first- and second-degree assault, as well as the unlawful use of a firearm following the incident reported around 8 a.m. Thursday. The altercation reportedly occurred when Johnson, driving a black Hyundai Santa Fe SUV, pointed a gun at another driver, who immediately contacted Maryland State Police to report the incident.

Following the report, police identified Johnson as a suspect and arrested him at his home shortly thereafter. A loaded handgun was discovered in his vehicle, although it was not fired during the incident, and fortunately, the other driver was unharmed. Currently held without bond, Johnson’s bail was set at $10,000 during a review hearing on Friday, raising questions about the circumstances surrounding the road rage dispute and safety concerns on the highways.
