The Rock Hill Police Department, in collaboration with the Sigmas Foundation, is hosting a community forum on July 25 to address rising gun violence, particularly among youth. This “Youth Unite Against Gun Violence” summit will take place at Clinton College and aims to foster dialogue between at-risk youth, law enforcement, and mental health advocates.
With 136 reported incidents of gun violence in South Carolina over the past year, including the tragic case of a 16-year-old convicted of murder, local leaders emphasize the need for proactive community engagement. Capt. Rod Stinson of the Rock Hill Police stated, “We can’t arrest our way out of any issue,” highlighting the importance of collaboration to enhance community safety and support for young individuals.
