An East Bay security guard has been arrested for using a forged concealed carry permit and for possessing illegal firearms, including an assault rifle. The investigation began when his former employer contacted the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office to verify his CCW permit and discovered it was fake, reportedly issued under Sheriff Yesenia Sanchez’s name. Following this revelation, authorities found an unserialized short-barreled AR-15 rifle in the man’s apartment during a subsequent search.
In addition to the AR-15, police also located a replica Glock pistol and 19 fentanyl pills in his vehicle. The 38-year-old Berkeley man, charged with unlawful firearm activity, has pleaded not guilty and asserts he is the restrained party in a domestic violence court order, further complicating his legal situation regarding firearm possession. This case raises concerns about security personnel and firearms management in the Bay Area.
