A 26-year-old man is in good condition after being shot outside Murphy’s Bleachers, a popular bar in Wrigleyville, on Thursday evening. Police report that the shooting occurred around 7 p.m. during a disturbance involving two groups of young people, prompting the man to flee inside the bar after hearing gunshots. Authorities later obtained surveillance video capturing two individuals firing into the crowd and fleeing the scene.
Subsequent investigations led Town Hall District officers to detain several teenagers on a Red Line train, where they recovered a firearm. Currently, one person of interest is in custody as detectives continue to evaluate evidence, including 30 shell casings collected from the scene. The ongoing investigation is drawing attention, highlighting safety concerns in nightlife areas.
