Springfield Gang Member Sentenced for Gun Crimes

A 28-year-old Springfield man, Darius Thomas, has been sentenced to three years in federal prison for gun crimes related to his involvement with the local gang “FTO.” His illegal activities include a shocking altercation in a Kum & Go parking lot where he and an associate brandished firearms during a verbal dispute, leading to his identification by police via security footage.

Additionally, authorities uncovered Thomas’s attempt to falsely purchase a firearm just days after the Kum & Go incident, during which he misrepresented his marijuana use on the ATF Firearm Transaction Form. This case, which highlights ongoing concerns regarding gang-related violence and gun possession laws, was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephanie L. Wan and involved multiple law enforcement agencies including the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
