Springfield police have arrested 18-year-old Malachi Williams following a carjacking that escalated into a crash involving two residential properties. The incident unfolded on Saturday evening when the victim reported being robbed at gunpoint, leading to the discovery of the stolen vehicle later that night after it slammed into the homes.
During the investigation, officers recovered a fully automatic ghost gun from the wrecked vehicle, which is notable due to its lack of a serial number and the presence of a sear-selector switch, effectively classifying it as a machine gun. Williams faces several charges including driving a stolen car, leaving the scene of a crash, and multiple gun-related offenses. He was injured in the crash and transported to Baystate for treatment.
