St. Clair Shores police have arrested a Detroit man suspected of attempting a strong-armed robbery and carjacking at a Kroger supermarket on Friday morning. The incident unfolded around 10:25 a.m. when a 64-year-old woman was confronted by the suspect as she exited her vehicle, leading to a struggle over her purse that drew the attention of nearby bystanders who intervened.
The suspect managed to flee with one of the victim’s bags before stealing a running vehicle belonging to a 61-year-old man sitting inside. After threatening the driver, a brief struggle ensued at a nearby Mobil gas station, where the suspect ultimately abandoned the vehicle and ran on foot before being captured in a Walgreens store. Local authorities are continuing to investigate the incident and encourage anyone with additional information to contact the St. Clair Shores police.
