A 39-year-old Stamford man, Jeffrey Lauture, is arrested on multiple charges, including illegal possession of a firearm, after leading police on an erratic chase from Massachusetts into Connecticut. The pursuit began Thursday evening when Massachusetts State Police alerted Connecticut troopers about Lauture’s pickup truck, which drove both below and above the speed limit, ultimately exceeding 90 mph once spotted by law enforcement.
As the chase continued along Interstate 84, troopers deployed stop sticks to deflate Lauture’s tires, bringing the vehicle to a stop after it struck a jersey barrier. Inside the truck, officers discovered a loaded handgun equipped with a high-capacity magazine, prompting several serious charges, including reckless driving and evading police. Lauture’s actions not only endangered himself but also posed significant risks to other road users, raising concerns about public safety during the chase.
