Staten Island Offers Up to $500 for Guns in Buy-Back Event

Staten Island will host a “No Questions Asked Cash for Guns” event this Saturday, allowing residents to surrender firearms for cash compensation. Organized by District Attorney Michael E. McMahon in partnership with the NYPD, participants can receive up to $500 for handing in working handguns or assault rifles at Christ Assembly Lutheran Church in Stapleton.

Additionally, those turning in ghost guns or firearms made with 3D printers will receive $200, while operable rifles and shotguns will secure $75. McMahon emphasizes the importance of these buy-back events in addressing gun violence, stating that even a single firearm in the home can lead to tragic outcomes. Since 2016, the initiative has successfully removed nearly 1,000 firearms from Staten Island streets, highlighting its critical role in promoting public safety.
