Sterling Heights police are actively searching for one or more suspects involved in a shooting that left a 54-year-old man injured on Tuesday evening. The incident occurred around 6:30 p.m., prompting police to respond after the victim managed to drive to a nearby gas station, where he was found with a gunshot wound and later listed in stable condition at a local hospital.
This shooting is part of a troubling trend in Metro Detroit, where several violent incidents have recently garnered attention. Earlier in the month, a series of altercations led to a fatal shooting tied to a robbery and another incident involving a flare gun attack on a good Samaritan. As Michigan records over 1,120 non-fatal shootings in 2023, Sterling Heights had notably zero non-fatal shootings last year, raising concerns about community safety. Police encourage anyone with information to contact the Sterling Heights Investigations Bureau.
