Student Arrested for Selling Firearms During Election Ban

A 25-year-old student from Quezon City is arrested for selling firearms in Makati City as part of a buy-bust operation amid a strict gun ban related to the upcoming 2025 elections. Authorities confiscated a 5.56 rifle and a 5.7 pistol along with loaded magazines during the operation, highlighting ongoing efforts to control illegal firearms in the lead-up to the polls.

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) reported that the suspect failed to present any valid credentials when seeking a permit to sell firearms, raising concerns over the proliferation of weapons during a politically sensitive time. As of now, the Philippine National Police has recorded 691 violations of the gun ban, underscoring the urgency of such operations to ensure election security.
