The altercation occurred early on Friday, October 31, when the older student displayed a BB gun to several peers before engaging in a physical confrontation, according to the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety.
Authorities report that the BB gun was not discharged during the incident and had been discarded prior to the assault. School officials swiftly intervened, ensuring the safety of all students and staff throughout the event, and the school day continued without disruption. The juvenile suspect has been detained and faces charges including trespassing and the possession of a weapon on school grounds.
