The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife announces the availability of 2,693 multi-season deer tags and 160 elk tags for sale this August, following an insufficient sale during the initial tag distribution. These surplus tags present a rare opportunity for hunters who previously applied but did not secure a tag, as the sales will occur on separate days to ensure a smoother purchasing process.
The elk tags will be available starting August 19, with sales commencing at 10 a.m. on a first-come, first-served basis exclusively through in-person transactions. Following that, multi-season deer tags will go on sale on August 21, allowing for online and phone purchases as well. Prices for these tags have increased due to new state legislation, now costing $191.77 for deer and $250.97 for elk. Given the anticipated high demand, especially for elk tags, hunters are advised to act quickly to secure their tags.
