A suspect is in custody after allegedly assaulting a Brevard Police officer and leading multiple law enforcement agencies on a high-speed chase. The incident began when an officer was struck in the face while attempting to detain the suspect near Burrell Avenue and Peace Drive, prompting the suspect to steal a city vehicle possibly containing police equipment.
The chase concluded near Exit 53 on I-26 when law enforcement utilized a Precision Immobilization Technique, safely disabling the fleeing vehicle without injuries reported. Authorities from several agencies, including Henderson County and Asheville Airport Police, responded to the incident, which underscores the collaborative efforts among local law enforcement to maintain public safety. All recovered equipment from the initial vehicle theft has been verified, according to Brevard Police.
