Three suspects, Angel Williams, Patrick Patterson, and Kimsheree Simoneau, appeared in Providence District Court facing multiple charges related to the overdoses of seven Providence College students. The court session revealed that Williams and Patterson are shackled and face 27 counts, including drug possession with intent to distribute cocaine and fentanyl, as well as gun charges, while Simoneau faces charges connected to an untraceable firearm discovered during the investigation.
This alarming incident occurred after the students were hospitalized on Friday night, all of whom received Narcan and are expected to recover. Despite recent CDC data indicating a decrease in overdose deaths in the region, fentanyl remains a potent threat, with officials like Matt Gutwill emphasizing its dangerous prevalence in street drugs. Williams and Patterson remain incarcerated pending a transfer to Providence Superior Court for further hearings.
