Swalwell: Military Members Can ‘Check’ Trump’s Orders

California Rep. Eric Swalwell claims that members of the military have communicated to him their willingness to act as a “check” on President Donald Trump’s orders. During an appearance on Don Lemon’s show, Swalwell emphasized that some service members feel a duty to uphold their constitutional oath, particularly in light of the recent controversy surrounding a video of Democratic lawmakers urging military personnel to refuse illegal orders from the president.

Swalwell’s comments come amid escalating tensions regarding military conduct and constitutional obligations, with the Department of War launching a review into allegations against Senator Mark Kelly, who appeared in the aforementioned video. He argues that any retaliation against Kelly signals a troubling readiness to disregard lawful commands, stating, “If you don’t intend to carry out unlawful orders, why do you care that somebody would say that?”
