Tax Incentives for Gun Safety Could Save Lives

Researchers at LaGrange College propose a gun safety policy that could save nearly 20,000 lives each year nationwide by offering tax incentives for purchasing safety equipment like gun safes and trigger locks. Their study reveals states with such measures have significantly lower gun death rates, showing 5.71 fewer deaths per 100,000 residents compared to states without these incentives.

With Oklahoma recently becoming the 14th state to adopt this initiative, the push for similar policies is gaining traction in other states, including Colorado, where the potential impact could be saving over 330 lives annually. This bipartisan approach not only interests lawmakers across the political spectrum but also emphasizes the need for practical solutions to reduce gun-related tragedies, particularly involving children.
