A 14-year-old boy is arrested on multiple gun charges just before Richwoods High School’s graduation ceremony at the Peoria Civic Center. Amid crowd control efforts around 2:40 p.m., police spotted the boy attempting to evade security measures and observed a suspicious group approaching, prompting immediate intervention.
Following a brief foot chase, officers apprehended the teenager, who had concealed a loaded handgun inside a vehicle. He now faces several charges, including unlawful possession of a firearm and resisting arrest, as police continue to investigate related incidents that led to seven more arrests later that day. Over 900 graduates celebrated their achievements as security incidents unfolded nearby.
