Teen Rejects Plea Deal in Armed Robbery Case

Seventeen-year-old Josiah Gray has turned down a plea deal that would have allowed him to serve probation in exchange for testifying against his co-defendants in an armed robbery case. Gray’s decision comes as he faces a maximum sentence of 99 years for his involvement in a robbery that occurred on September 30, 2023, demonstrating a significant risk as the prosecution leaves the door open for a potential deal until March 19.

Gray, who is being tried as an adult despite being 16 at the time of the crime, rejected the offer during an appearance before the 9th Judicial District Court in Alexandria, Louisiana. His co-defendants, Marcel Jones and Myron Diavion Jones, are also facing charges, further complicating the proceedings. The implications of Gray’s choice could have a lasting impact on the case as it unfolds in the courtroom.
