A Bronx teenager, 16-year-old Tyson Harps, is fatally shot on Eastern Parkway near Rochester Avenue in Crown Heights, marking him as the 24th teen to die from gun violence in New York City this year. The NYPD confirmed he succumbed to a gunshot wound to the head just steps from Lincoln Terrace Park, and emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene shortly after 8:45 p.m. on Saturday.
Authorities are now searching for a suspect seen fleeing eastbound, described as a man wearing a mask, black jacket, gray hoodie, gray sweatpants, and black-and-white sneakers. The investigation is ongoing as police work to understand the circumstances that led to this tragic incident, which reflects a concerning trend as teen homicides in the city have surpassed last year’s total.
